Course Level 1: Introductory

This course begins by teaching you about the basic structure and functions of the human body, including the cardiopulmonary system, musculoskeletal system, and the neurological system. You will learn about different diseases associated with these systems and how to treat them. As a physical therapy aide, lower back pain is one of the most common ailments in patients and this course discusses the therapeutic exercises used to treat lower back pain.

The second part of this course teaches you about correct body mechanics and the importance of implementing correct body mechanics during all lifting activities. You will learn about gait training and equipment used to assist with gait training such as parallel bars and crutches. This part of the course also describes best practices for moving a patient, for example, from a sitting position to a standing position. This course finishes by explaining various therapeutic exercises patients are required to perform as part of their physical therapy.
